Roland Hackl
Starting early at the age of six taking piano and flute lessons but failed to perform classical music properly, Roland discovered the world of songwriting and production in the mid 90ies. Having worked with different kinds of pop outfits, meeting Andreas totally changed his approach to contemporary electronic sounds. Constantly reflecting up-to-date developments in sound culture he undertakes all kinds of sonic explorations when it comes to define the perfect sound for his own productions.
Production-wise the ultimate goal for Roland is to create something that’s fresh and unique, and essentially more than the sum of it’s ingredients. The key topic here is sound, texture, vibe, mixing, arranging and simply capturing moments of beauty. Producing music in dark, damp and cold garage-like studios wasn’t always a pleasure and definitely was subject to change in order to keep things going.
Since 1997 Andreas and Roland work at I/O a cosy studio environment in Vienna which has been perfectly adapted to fit their needs.
